Homer asks the muse to sing to him about Odysseus's travels throughout the story giving various hints of the end. It's said that Odysseus fought and weathered many bitter days and nights to save his life; along with his shipmates that he was going to bring home after the battle in Troy. Calypso, the beautiful nymph trapped him on her island for an entire year because she wanted to have him for her own. He kept desperately trying to get home to see his beautiful wife and child, Telemachus. All the gods pitied Odysseus except for Poseidon who's raging cold and rough against him till he finally was ashore on his own land.
